The convention planning committee has been working to make the 2008 IBEA Annual Convention a rewarding experience for all who attend. The convention will be held October 10-11, 2008, at the Airport Holiday Inn in Des Moines, Iowa. Please make an effort to attend and please invite a fellow business educator to attend as well. The convention registration form and hotel reservation form are available on the web site.

After reviewing evaluations from last year’s convention, we have incorporated a few minor changes. We will keep the early bird breakout session at 8:00 on Friday morning. We will have a silent auction this year which will run throughout the day on Friday. The auction will close at 2:45 p.m. and the winning bidders will be announced at the business meeting at 3:45 p.m. We have moved the Friday banquet to 5:00-6:30 p.m. to allow attendees to socialize or enjoy Des Moines attractions on their own on Friday evening.

Multiple award-winning teacher, humorist and author Juli Burney will be our keynote speaker. Be prepared to be motivated and entertained!

Jennifer Nichols has spent many hours bringing in new exhibitors. Be sure to visit the exhibit area between sessions to catch the latest in teaching materials and visit with the exhibitors.

We will offer hands-on computer sessions, but attendees will need to bring their own laptops with the session program already loaded. In addition to the hands-on computer sessions, our program co-chairs Deb Hageman and Naomi Yaddof have arranged a wide variety of great sessions! You can see the complete schedule on the IBEA web site.

In addition to a wide variety of exciting sessions, the convention will create networking opportunities, challenge your thinking, and empower you when you return to the classroom. You will again have the opportunity to earn a graduate credit through Drake at the convention.

Our theme this year is "It’s a Jungle Out There – Let IBEA Be Your Guide." I hope you trek into the jungle and join us for an exciting conference Friday and Saturday, October 10 and 11 at the Airport Holiday Inn in Des Moines!
